COMPREHENSIVE EVALUATIONS

EDUCATIONAL, PSYCHOLOGICAL & NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATIONS

My approach toward assessment is individualized and personalized based on the needs of the client. Typical clients range in age from 5 to 25 and are referred because a parent, teacher, educator, or physician recognizes some challenges in the classroom or home environment. During an evaluation, I use a variety of tools and methodologies to obtain data such as a clinical interview, psychological testing, observation, and a review of records from your school and doctors.  Depending on the referral question and the scope of the evaluation, the following skill sets may be examined:  cognition, academics, language, memory, attention, executive functioning, adaptive functioning, emotional and behavioral functioning. The goal of assessment is to get a better understanding of your child’s strengths and weaknesses, offer a diagnosis (if applicable), provide a treatment plan, and share strategies and recommendations to help your child thrive.  Based on the findings, a report is formulated and a feedback session is scheduled to discuss the results and recommendations.

Typical referrals are made to examine the following conditions/situations:

  • Learning Disabilities in Reading, Mathematics, or Writing

  • Developmental Delays or Disabilities

  • Communication Disorders

  • Attention Deficit Disorders

  • Executive Functioning Challenges (e.g., difficulty in school due to problems with planning, organization, time management, and study skills).

  • Oppositional Defiant/Behavior Disorders

  • Possible need for testing accommodations (SAT, ACT, LSAT, GRE, etc)

  • Eligibility for Gifted & Talented programs

  • Early Kindergarten Readiness Evaluations

  • Differential diagnosis (e.g. emotional versus learning problem)

  • Concussion or Traumatic Brain Injury

  • Medical conditions that impact attention and learning (e.g., Lyme disease, cancer, infection)

Referral Services

I have had the privilege of getting to know and working with various professionals including psychiatrists, therapists, pediatricians, neurologists, learning specialists, speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, tutors, and educational consultants in addition to schools.  As a result, I have developed relationships with skilled individuals to whom I feel confident in referring clients.

Ongoing Support

I am dedicated to developing long-lasting relationships with clients and their families in order to provide continued support and guidance.  I strongly believe in a collaborative and integrated approach and working closely with the individuals involved in you or your child's care to ensure that the proper supports are implemented, to monitor progress, and to recommend modifications to treatment or educational plans as needed.
